The Brief

When entrepreneurs Hailey Bakich and Megan Stuhr approached Six17 to create a logo and brand their new business venture, Ashen Boutique and Salon, we jumped at the chance to develop their new identity. The dynamic duo wanted a bold, modern mark with a touch of retro flair that represented their name as well as what they did. The two wanted us to play with the meaning behind Ashen and their goal of bringing color into the lives of their clients, both literally, through the hair coloring process of the salon, and figuratively, through the joy of shopping their boutique.

The Result

Because Bakich wanted the logo to represent clients coming in pallid and leaving with color, we took the "a" in ashen and developed it into a droplet to represent the color being added. We then utilized the droplets to create the bold logomark. We chose a modern typeface to give the logo a fresh feel and appeal to their target audience of successful trendsetters. We used the color orange to give the mark a retro vibe. In the end, we developed a minimalist logomark that creatively represents color being added to enrich the lives of their clientele.

To complete their brand identity, we created a unique business card implementing the latest techniques of embossing and die-cutting. This process gave the card both dimension and originality. Ashen's card has garnered a lot of praise from our client as well as their customers.

It was a pleasure branding Ashen. We wish them the best in their new venture.
